Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Oil Painting
I tried to use the color wheel to pick a split compliment harmony, but I think I should have used yellow instead of green. The right way to do it is to first pick two complimentary colors for example; red and green and then use the two tertiary colors next to the compliment. In my case it would have been green with orange and purple. I used green with red purple and blue purple. Using an isosceles triangle on the color wheel makes it easy to figure out.

Impressionistic Oil Painting
Here is my 2nd cathedral painting, I’m not to pleased with the drawing or composition on this one, but I did learn a few thing with regard to painting in an impressionistic fashion.
# 1 - Your gonna have to use an awful lot of paint.
# 2 - Use your oldest rattiest hogs hair brushes.
# 3 - Load the brushes up with paint
# 4 - Dab at the canvas to release the paint from the brush

Art and the Bible

Throughout the history of art many great artists have been inspired by stories in the bible. On this site an ever increasing selection of their work is presented, with every painting linked to a related bible passage. The text is from the King James Bible, also known as the Authorized Version. You will find the full text online, including the apocrypha and the translators' preface.
